U5 - Hiti - Floor Lamp

With a modern look and a clear reference to one of FDB Møbler’s classic products, the Hiti floor lamp is an example of how you can create a new design, yet one which is clearly inspired by the classics. Having explored FDB Møbler’s history, the two designers Philip Bro and Dögg Guðmundsdóttir ended up drawing their inspiration from M. Volther’s famous spindleback chair J46 from 1946. Take a look at the H-shaped bracing in turned wood. The connection is undeniable. It is a tribute to the famous dining chair, but at the same time a piece of contemporary furniture with its own distinctive look – not least because of the oval-shaped, hand-blown glass. A strong take on how to bring Scandinavian design and Nordic lighting back down to earth and into a new era.
